Extracurricular Activites List
MITE Program:
During the summer of my ninth grade year, I was one of forty applicants, out of 400, chosen to participate in the Michigan Introduction to Engineering (MITE) program. The MITE program is centered on four key subject areas: Engineering Concepts, Technical Communication, Engineering Math, and Professional Development. While there, I acted as an ambassador between the Computer and Mechanical engineer groups by outlaying all measurements of the robot and pyramid from the Mechanical to the Computer division, so they could build a 3D-replica. In addition, I shared an engineering design that increased the efficiency of the robot’s lifting capabilities.
Treasurer of Key Club:
Key Club, also known as Kiwanis Club, is student-led and geared towards the betterment of not only community but worldly affairs. During my junior year, I held the Treasurer position. My obligations included managing the facilities of the school store at my high school store, scheduling the days when students work at the store, and assigning replacements when needed. I also organized the most successful Change Wars in my high school’s history by raising an astonishing $834.74.
Leader of Terracycling Group in Green Team:
Green Team is an environmental sustainability club with a goal to lead Dayton Regional STEM School (DRSS) in becoming a ZeroWaste school, meaning only 10% of waste is diverted to trash. The club is split into three subgroups to complete the major objective. Those groups are: Throw Away System (TAS), Terracycle, a process where a company turns waste into legitimate products, and Compost. Of those divisions, I am the current leader of Terracycle. As the leader, I am responsible for making sure all parts of the Terracycle (granola packages, chip bags, juice pouches, and lunch-able packaging) are properly sorted into their rightful storage areas by the most efficient means.
Manager of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church’s Snack Shop:
Providing an opportunity for the youth at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church (MMBC) to make an impact during the Lifestyle Stewardship Campaign, the youth leaders created the snack shop. The snack shop sells candy, popcorn, nutritional smoothies, etc. in order to raise money to support the church’s building project. I currently hold the positon of Manager. My duties include: supervising the workers in making sure they are on task, appointing tasks to employees, totaling the money after our selling period, and ultimately offering assistance when the opportunities present themselves.
