During the 9th Grade year, I grew quite a bit, but I mostly grew in my editing and revision skills .

Greatest Growth Statement

Throughout my freshman year, I mostly grew in editing and revising. Editing and revising is an important part of the writing process. Without editing, your writing would not be understandable, be full of grammatical errors, and the writing would not be as fluent. Writing can always be improved; the more drafts the better chance you have of correcting the mistakes. Before this year, I would rate my editing and revising 7 out of 10. I would just skim over my writing, and check for the most common errors such as misspelled words, bad sentence structure, and run-ons. I really did not have a “list” or process to make sure I covered all aspects in my writing. This year is different. I was introduced to the 5- Step Revision Process in Language Arts class. The 5- Step Revision Process is a method a writer can use to make sure their writing covers content (writing what you want to say), style (using descriptive words), correct grammar, correct sentence structure, and correct punctuation. I used the 5-Step Revision Process when I completed my “How to Write an Argumentative Essay” Project. In that project, I was able to use the process to improve my essay so it could persuade the reader to convict Riley Gardner of a terrible crime. Thanks to the 5-Step Revision Process, my editing and revising is now an 8.5 out of 10, and I am overall a better writer.
