Today, we went to the nature park Cox Arboretum. When we were there, I partnered myself with Christina, Grace, and Sarah. The four of us first completed the tree scavenger hunt that we were instructed to do. Out of that hunt, we found a Tulip tree, Stellar Dogwood, River Birch, Chinese Elm, and an adopted tree that was from Harold Schnell Elementary School. After the assignment, we decided to go to the tree tower. The tree tower allows you to scan the overall perimeter of most of the park. Then we went on a nature trail, which took roughly about a 1hr and 10 minutes. The trail took us from the tree tower all the way to the front of the park. Throughout, the trail we encountered a “Daddy Long-Leg” spider, a giant squirrel, and so many trees I couldn’t tell you the names of them even if I tried. The trail was somewhat exhausting but liberating at the same time. In addition, we befriended a dog that we named: Zip. Finally, we concluded the day with a 45-50min. yoga session and returned back to STEM.
